Free Baseball & Softball Sliding Clinics

free sliding clinics are hands-on sessions where we teach kids how to slide the right way, then give them plenty of reps so it actually sticks. it’s not a speech. it’s not a quick demo. it’s real instruction, real practice, and simple coaching cues everyone can repeat.

free slidemvp sliding clinics

each year, slidemvp runs 30 to 50 free sliding clinics across the country. here’s how it works:

  • request a clinic

    ✓ submit your info

if slidemvp is planning to be in your area, we will reach out to confirm a date and time

  • Cost

✓ the clinic is completely free

✓ all travel is covered out of pocket

the only thing we ask: permission to capture photo and video during the clinic for use on slidemvp social media. this helps expand the reach and keep the clinics free for everyone.

  • session format

✓ each session is 45 minutes

✓ up to 60 players per session

if more than 60 players register, up to three sessions can be held back-to-back, with a 15-minute break between each

  • league support

✓ an outfield to use, same field for all sessions, no switching

✓ coaches on-site to help with line control and participate in learning alongside players

  • players & gear

✓ open to players from 6u through high school

✓ it's strongly recommended that 6u and 8u are combined into their own session, separate from older groups

✓ players should wear pants and socks, they will slide in socks only

  • no on-site sales

✓ no products or mats will be sold

✓ slidemvp clinics are focused purely on instruction, no sales, no extras

FAQ

  • we focus on feet-first sliding and the pop-up slide, because those are the moves kids need in real games. we break it down into clear steps, show it, then have players do it over and over with small corrections. most kids go from stiff and unsure to smooth and confident fast, because they finally have a plan that makes sense.

the goal is simple: take sliding from “please don’t get hurt” to “i know what to do.” coaches walk away with a teaching method they can run at practice. players walk away feeling proud, safe, and ready to slide when it counts.

  • Coaches and Teams

if you coach youth baseball or softball, this is for you. a lot of coaches never got taught the steps, so sliding turns into a one-time thing, or it gets skipped. in the clinic, you get a simple way to teach it that works with a whole team. you also get coaching cues you can repeat at practice without overthinking it.

    Parents and Players

parents want their kid to feel safe and not freeze up when it’s time to slide. players want to look smooth, feel in control, and stop being scared of the dirt. the clinic gives them a clear plan and enough reps to feel the difference.

    Leagues, Schools, and Facilities

if you run a program, school team, or training facility, a clinic is an easy add to your calendar. it gives players a real skill in one session, and it gives coaches a consistent way to teach it across teams and age groups.

  • yes. the clinic itself does not cost anything. availability depends on location, timing, and fit, but there is no fee for the instruction when a clinic is approved.

  • most clinics are built for youth baseball and softball players, usually ages 7 to 12. that’s the range where sliding fear shows up and good habits make the biggest difference.

  • a typical clinic runs about 30 to 45 minutes. that’s enough time to teach the steps, get real reps, and help players feel confident without losing focus.

  • no experience is needed. players just need athletic clothes, water, and a willingness to try. everything is taught step by step, starting slow and building up.
